MCEA and City management began meeting in February to negotiate a successor labor contract. Both labor and management are hopeful that an agreement will be reached prior to the expiration of the current MOU. MCEA's negotiations team consists of Tom McCarthy, Ronnie Flood, Mona Mount, Mark Chadwick, and Craig Walker. The City's negotiations team includes Barbara Santos, Jill Peltier, Kimberly Murdaugh, Gail wax, Dennis Turner, and Steve Lumpkin. Both sides agreed that Labor Relations Specialist, Mary Mount, did an effective and excellent job acting as the facilitator during last negotiations and decided to enlist her services again for this year. Some areas of interest that will be discussed during negotiations are City paid health care premium contributions, further implementation of the Bryce wall-to wall study, and changes to the existing discipline article of the MOU.
